To satisfy your curiosity, Dr. A: I had two slices of bread with cured sheep sausage and cucumbers for breakfast.

One-year Anniversary

November 11, 2008 § 6 Comments

The Sterile Eye has been around for exactly one year today!

During this year I’ve gotten to know a lot of other people in a universe I didn’t even know existed – the medical blogosphere. I’ve been contacted by medical photographers and others, seeking advice on different aspects of filming surgery. Patients have written to me about the fascination of watching the same operation as they went through. And I’ve had the honor of having some of my posts referenced by others. I thank you all for taking the time to visit. « Read the rest of this entry »

How did it come to this?

September 20, 2008 § 7 Comments

This is the story of how I ended up working as a medical photographer. It’s not a very long, but quite winding road, that turned out to come almost full circle. « Read the rest of this entry »

On a break?

June 2, 2008 § 4 Comments

An old stone bridge in the forest close to where I live.

I haven’t been blogging much lately, but it’s not a planned break, blogger’s block or anything.

As the summer is drawing nearer I find myself spending the evenings outside with the kids or running in the woods (photo credit), and less time in front of the computer.

There’s a number of surgical videos that are scheduled for to be published in June, and I’ll surely post on that. I also have a few other posts I’m planning to write, and something that demands a post might of course happen, but I reckon I won’t be entirely back on track until the end of the summer.

Half-year review

April 28, 2008 § 7 Comments

The Sterile Eye is 6 months old, just learning to sit on its own and getting its first teeth. It’s also delightful to see that it has more than doubled it’s birth weight.

At this first milestone it is time to take a step back and review the past. Here are the posts that are my personal favorites of each of the six months this blog has existed. « Read the rest of this entry »

SurgeXperiences – Tools of the trade

April 28, 2008 § 4 Comments

I’ll have the honor of hosting SurgeXperiences again on May 11th. SurgeXperiences is a biweekly blog carnival that rounds up the best of the surgical department of the medical blogosphere.

Hosting after the outstanding job Sid Schwab did, will surely be, as we say in Norway, like jumping after Wirkola, but a little challenge is always nice.

Unlike last time, I thought I’d go for a themed edition this time around. And the theme will be: Tools of the trade. Nuff said. The rest is up to you.

Please submit your posts by May 9th here.

Opening words

November 11, 2007 § 1 Comment

I’ve been working as a medical videographer for some years now. In many ways it is a lonely line of work. Not many people earn their money by making videos of medical and surgical procedures. Most can’t even stand the thought.

So why bother the web with a blog about it? « Read the rest of this entry »
