What is this?
I took a picture of this thing yesterday. Well, not actually of it, but of a rendering of it. But what is it?
Hints?
Looks like it could potentially be a horizontal lung section although that’s an awful lot of large cavities.
Not a lung, but it’s from the human body. It’s surroundings, which it can not exist without, has been removed in this photo.
Two choices:
1. Islets of Langerhans in the Pancreas
2. Parathyroid glands.
Your scale is more right than simon’s, but it’s actually even smaller. The original image was taken with an electron microscope.
A nucleus?
Correct!
It’s an electron microscope image of a cell nucleus.
The original image was constructed from 4 or 5 different photos held together with glue and tape. I photographed this, removed the border lines and the surrounding cytoplasm, and there you have it.
The clue helped, Øystein :)
