Under My Umbrella

This is why they’re called umbrella reflectors. No doubt about it.
I packed our equipment cart, basically a modified baby trolley, for a trip to a congress center down the road. People from neonatal intensive-care units around the country were having a big meeting and they wanted a group shot. Shooting fifty persons is more crowd control than photography, and not one of my favorite assignments. B, one of the other photographers, loves groups, but he had the day off of course. So I packed two Broncolor studio strobes, light stands and two umbrella reflectors.
A bit late and feeling slightly nervous I headed outside to walk the few hundred meters to the center. After fifty meters it suddenly started to rain. Being in a hurry I first started to run, pushing the cart before me. But why behave irrationally when I had to perfectly good umbrellas right there in the cart? I opened one and placed it over the equipment. Saved the flashes, I made it to the center in time and the group shot didn’t turn out too bad either. Know this, photo equipment: Now that it’s raining more than ever, know that we’ll still have each other. You can stand under my umbrella.
